Overview

Family Practice or Family Medicine training includes over 90% of medical problems. It is one of the oldest board certified specialties in the country and family doctors enjoy taking care of the entire family.

Family practice is, by nature, holistic. It is founded on the principles of the bio-psycho-social model of medicine, which always considers the bio(physical) psycho (mind and emotional) and social (family, community and environment).  It is a natural, though not always typical, transition to integrated medicine.

Ellen Barnett, MD, PhD

Robert Dozor, MD

A Family physician, working with you to find and use the best treatment options. Learn more...

As the major founders of IMC, working with the entire IMC team, the family physicians at IMC - Drs. Dozor and Barnett - are proud to work with you on your health path.

During a visit

New patient visits are an hour, follow up appointments generally 20 minutes. Both are longer than the typical appointments in the community.

Dr. Dozor and Dr. Barnett want to know your goals, your interests, your overall approach to your health. Using an integrative medicine approach, they combine the most appropriate recommendations from western and complimentary medicine.

Conditions often treated by Family Practice

90% of medical issues from newborns to elderly.

Acute problems: pain, fever, cough, joint problems.

Chronic Medical conditions:  arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, etc.

Chronic pain management.

Depression and anxiety.

Women’s Health and Men’s Health issues.

Sleep issues.

Children – from infants to adolescents.

Common problems: sleep, rashes and acne.

And, much more!

Family Practice has been a specialty since 1968 and was the first to require continuing education to renew credentials. Every 7 years board certified family physicians must pass a test to continue their board status – which both Drs. Dozor and Barnett have done.
